Vyrus Race News 2008
Alto Performance are proud to announce the Vyrus Project, designed and now proven to be the next Alto race winner.
Oulton Park was a fresh circuit for the Vyrus, however the track is close enough to Cadwell park for the base settings to be comparable. Two dry practice sessions on the friday were enough to allow Phil to get on the pace of the leaders, and the first race on the Saterday lead Phil to a race win and the new lap record.
The second race also saw a fastest lap, and finished with Phil crossing the line first ...

... however a bad start mean that he had been in second harrying the leader for the entire race, and a red flag on the last lap caused a count back, resulting in a second.
A red flag away from a perfect double race win and lap record full house weekend.

Our next round will now be round 9 Snetterton. See Race Dates for more.

Laverda Race News 2007
After an amazing 19 podium finishes including two back to back wins Phil Read finally got his just deserts and clinched 3rd place in the championship on the last lap of the last race. The racing had been so close, and the competition so tough that the marshals, in a spur of the moment gesture, ushered the top 5 riders onto the podium car for a lap of honour.
Alto racing and Phil Read have made a parallel twin into a race winner, and a championship contender, in a national race series.

The Laverda project has always felt to us like unfinished business, however the entire team now feel that we have reached a level that would have made the factory proud.
Between Rock Oil and Oerlikon Balzers coatings we have managed to prove that high bmep figures can be made to run reliable and cool. Then with the Alto modified bespoke Showa forks we managed to get the thing to handle, accelerate, and stop.
Indeed Alto racing would like to thank all our sponsors for the help they have shown along the way.

Show News
The Thundersprint 2008 originally clashed with the Brands GP round of thundersprint but, due to snow earlier in the year, BSB took the date and left them clashing instead.
Instead of taking just one bike we were free to put on a real show and ended up taking 5.
Pete Whitelegg continued to ride the Cagiva, but we also got to show off the new Vyrus in front of a full crowd as well as supply rides for 15 times world champion Giacomo Agostini, and MP Steve Ladyman. Steve is fighting for the road racing cause at the moment and we were happy to lend him a ride.
See Thundersprint for much much more.

Press News
Motorcycle News were impressed enough with the Vyrus' first win at the French round of the Thunderbike championship that they gave the event a double page feature.
With a readership of over 450,000 a week this should have hopefully got the point across that hub centre steering bikes are now better in reallity, not just theory.
This glowing writeup has since been followed by using Ben Shaughnessy and the Alto team as a voice of knowledge on Hub Centre Steering designs.

Team News
After a successful year Phil Read is keen to ride the Vyrus knowing that it will be a steep learning curve. Zero dive, and ultra light weight should give good results for someone who can brake late and carry high corner speed. i.e. Phil.
Our now steady and well known team (some 10 members now) with expertise in all areas will be on hand at all the meetings and shows we participate in. Please feel free to ask questions they are all very knowledgeable about the bikes we race.
