The Series
This year we will be racing the Vyrus in the ThunderBike UK championship. This is a race series with a maximum power to weight limit built into the rules, as well as engine configuration restrictions.
What this means is that this should be a series where anything from 400cc fours to 1200cc twins can race equally. Most series require a bike to be based on a current production bike, and often limit the modifications that can be done, but apart from keeping the donor swinging arm, frame, and engine casings, the thunderbike race engineer is free to modify pretty much anything they like.
So far there have been Aprillias, Bimota, Buells, BMWs, Ducatis, Laverdas, KTMs, MuZs, Moto Guzzis, Tigcraft, Suzukis, Kawazakis, and Yamahas in the fray. Unfortunately no Voxan or Triumphs ... perhaps they know they will get beaten.
